A materially rich palette sweeps throughout the 6,000 sf eatery - rock textured wall coverings, plastered walls, modular terraced sofas and undulating and curved banquettes support the mythilogical theme of the DC-based restaurant, GAIA, named after the Greek goddess of the Earth. An abstract primordial environment is conveyed through a slection of charcoal tones, rock like formations and foliage to usher in a natural sense of beauty. Moody, ambient light is cast through the recessed ceiling over dining strips that stretch above to delineate the dropped ceilings. The interplay of speckled lights throughout impesses upon us, a celestial night-time sky.
