For Shy Shy, a cocktail bar in collaboration with Beaudry Collier Design, Drummond Projects was responsible for the architectual lighting design that defines the atmosphere of the interior. The approach centered on enhancing the architectural gestures and material palette while creating a layered sequence of moods across the bar, lounge, and dining areas.
A luminous cove frames the lacquered red semi-circular bar, casting a warm glow that anchors the room and establishes a focal point. Accent lighting draws attention to the limewashed walls, stained glass inserts, and custom murals, while concealed sources create a soft rhythm of illumination that guides circulation. The interplay of direct and indirect light highlights textures, brings depth to the color palette, and supports the balance between openness and intimacy.
Through carefully calibrated lighting, Shy Shy achieves a dynamic environment that shifts seamlessly from day into evening, reinforcing the spatial drama of the interiors while heightening their sense of intimacy and theatricality.
